Why Not Privatize Parks Management?
New York has shown great success in contracting management of Central Park to a private company. The park is now safer, cleaner and less costly than when run by the government.
What if the many companies expert in the field of land and park management, people movement, education and conservation were to bid for the management and maintenance of Liberty Island, Mt. Rushmore or Yellowstone?
But then again, what if it worked?
What if these privately and publicly held companies actually could provide a better visitor experience at a lower cost to the taxpayer than the government?
Would it be such a stretch to give it a try on a limited scale?
